The iPad is an innovative consumer electronic device, the latest presented by Apple. It is conceptually similar to the iPod touch, but a larger size (tablet, as opposed to the handheld iPod touch) makes the device open to a far broader scope of uses. It has a multi-touch screen, no physical keyboard, is book-sized, and very thin.

Advantages over other devices include: Text book size and weight to allow a full text screen; instant-on; efficient power consumption of up to 10 hours screen on use; 150,000 iPhone/iTouch apps available; a huge selection of media content to include books, music, podcasts, television, movies; business apps to include iWorks being designed that could allow iPad to transition from work to home and back; very elegent but simple interface reduces learning curve; 3G plan can be turned on and off via iPad.

Disadvantages include: Won't slip in pocket; no camera; apps have to be ported to take full advantage of device; lack of removable battery means $106 for refurbished unit; smaller potential consumers base could mean very few iPad apps.
