Yahoo has released a revamped mobile web version of its popular mail service YahooMail, this time completely rewritten in HTML5. I am not a big YahooMail fan – yet, since I still have one account with them (a ’90s relic) I went and tested the darn thing. In short: ITS SLICK!

To access the service just fire up your iPad Safari and hit yahoomail.com – the service recognizes your OS and reroutes you to the updated web version rewritten for iPad in HTML5. As a matter of fact, the webpage transforms so much that you get a feeling that you are running an app, not a web page. This time Yahoo has gotten closer to its rivals Google and Apple (both already sport fancy mail apps/webmail clients)…
Go check out a blog post by Lee Parry, Yahoo’s product manager who promised to the community:
Of course this is just the first version, and we’ll be constantly iterating to add new features, improve performance, and make Yahoo! Mail for iPad the best it can possibly be.

It seems that many players, from big (NYT) to small (see below) are jockeying for a piece of the iPad pie. Yet, nobody should be surprised given the success of the iPod product line and multi-billion accessory/software/content industry that it spawned.
The rush is not contained to the States – judging from the visitor logs to this blog the interest is simply global – every continent and (I believe)) every country sent visitors to this blog (Google Analytics lists over 200 countries in my visitors log).
I just got an email from the folks at Guangzhou Treetop Trading Co., Ltd., China and they are seeking distributors in the States – if someone has interest hit the link above – I cannot vouch for the company as I never did business with them and I am not affiliated with them… I simply am surprised with the speed of reaction of the global accessory manufacturers though.
Tree Top’s Accessory Offering
- TPU case
- Real leather sleeve
- Genuine leather cover
- PU leather cover
- PU leather case
- Neoprene sleeve

Cheers,
IO

Apple goes head to head with Google (well, kind of)…
…Apple’s lawsuit against HTC a proxy through which to strike at Google and its increasingly popular Android OS? It certainly looks that way. While not directly named in the lawsuit, Google figures prominently in it simply because of the sheer number of times “Android products” are called out in the complaint. According to Apple, “Accused HTC Android Products” infringe no fewer than nine of its patents–some dating from back to the company’s NeXT days.
